Case #68 - Scott Eiselt

$15.00

In case #68 I'm joined by Dr. Scott Eiselt of Greenville South Carolina, USA. He presents a 36 year old female, a tire factory worker complaining of shoulder and arm pain and arm and hand numbness. Scott helps us understand how he reasoned through her descriptions of the pain and paresthesia, what her physical exam findings told him and what classification came to the surface within the 2nd or 3rd visit. There is also excellent patient education and management discussion through this patient who showed to have a condition with a slower responding lesion. Although there was no rapid response this case is a great example that a clear, successful outcome can be achieved through persistence and the proper care. (1hr, 5min, 45 sec)

In this case be prepared to hear and learn:

  • clarifying what the patient’s expectations should be up front in order to align the clinician’s and patient’s goals

  • differential diagnosis discussion between the cervical spine and the shoulder

  • the meaning of peripheral symptoms worsening when peripheralization occurs with ipsilateral rotation or lateral flexion

  • an example of when it’s a great time to thoroughly use flexion especially when dealing with a potential non-rapid responding condition

  • 2 patterns seen with slowly responding fixed conditions and how to differentiate
