Session 042001 - Stephen Klassen part 1
Session 042001 - Stephen Klassen part 1
In Session 042001 we’re joined by Mr. Stephen Klassen and we highlight assessing and treating via telehealth. Stephen is a lead therapist for the telehealth service line within Integrated Musculoskeletal Care (IMC) and has been integral in the development of that program. Stephen gives a brief overview of what he’s found helpful for a successful encounter including: their computer platform, the equipment necessary, items the patient should have available and an explanation of what the patient should expect. Then he presents a 50 year old male with intermittent left shoulder pain. (1hr 18min 40sec)
Amongst many other topics Stephen shares:
the information he shares with his telehealth patients and the items he asks them to have so their first visit is as productive as possible
his equipment which makes for an effective session
how he conducts the physical exam when manual testing and techniques are not an option
differential diagnosis for shoulder versus referred and of spinal source
a modification of thoracic extension when the traditional produces too much shoulder pain
considerations of what to do when the patient’s losing patience and isn’t buying in
some observations of more common reductive loads for the shoulder
how he addresses when the patient reports improvement much less than what Stephen sees him to be improved
