Linda Woodhouse PT, PhD

In episode 170 I’m speaking with Dr. Linda Woodhouse. She’s a physio with 30 years of experience, a researcher with over 70 publications, an international speaker and the Canadian Physiotherapy Association President.  In part 1, she shares a bit of her journey, her areas of expertise, where she sees our value in cost-effectiveness in musculoskeletal care and how to improve for the future.  This week on MCF!

Dr. Linda Woodhouse PT, PhD is an Associate Professor in Physical Therapy at the University of Alberta (Canada).  She served as an Endowed Chair in Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Alberta (2011-2016) and as Scientific Director for Alberta Health Services’ Bone and Joint Health Strategic Clinical Network (2012 to 2015).  She is a Research Affiliate at the McCaig Institute for Bone and Joint Health in Calgary, and President of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA). Linda is a researcher, educator, and clinician with 30 years experience in clinical trials and musculoskeletal research.  She has over 70 peer-reviewed journal publications, 115 presented abstracts and 120 invited presentations. Her research focus is on: 1) developing and evaluating innovative models of integrated interprofessional care in musculoskeletal disease, 2) evaluating pain, physical and functional capacity in individuals with musculoskeletal (lumbar spine disorders, ACL deficiency, total hip and knee replacements) and endocrine disorders (growth hormone deficiency & excess), and 3) evaluating the effects of muscle compounds (anabolic steroids, anti-myostatin antibodies) and exercise on sarcopenia using models of osteoarthritis, cachexia (cancer, HIV) and hypogonadism. She continues to advocate for integrated data systems and the use of data to drive high quality, cost effective health care delivery.

We hope to deliver this content to the committed professional who wants to improve his/her care and we hope to do it in a way that is easily accessible, the world over, in today's technological age.
