 In episode 169 I conclude my conversation with Mr. Joe Maccio Sr. and Dr. Joe Maccio Jr., a father-son team leading a McKenzie certified clinic. They continue to share successes they've had in marketing their business to the public and to the healthcare community as well as their physical therapy student mentoring program and much more. Joseph G. Maccio Sr, a physical therapist/ergonomist, graduated from the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center in 1977 with a Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy and from New York University in 1981 with a Master's degree in Occupational Biomechanics and Ergonomics. He has completed diploma residency program in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (Dip. MDT) in 1996. Joe is presently the owner of Maccio Physical Therapy in Troy, New York, a Certified McKenzie Clinic. Prior to opening his own practice in 1986 he was the Director of Rehabilitation Services at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy and a senior physical therapist at New York University Hospital's Rusk Institute.

He guest lectures at The Sage Colleges Doctor of Physical Therapy program.  He has also helped develop a specialty MDT clinical internship for select students from The Sage Colleges and Springfield College. He has been a regular speaker at the annual New York State Nurse Practitioners’ Association Conferences. He has also co-authored “Directional Preference of the Wrist: A Preliminary Study” which has been published in The Journal of Manual and Manipulative Therapy.  

Joseph R. Maccio obtained his Doctor of Physical Therapy from Downstate Medical Center in 2008. In July 2013 he received his diploma in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (Dip. MDT) through the McKenzie Institute International. Joe is the primary author of "Directional Preference of the Wrist: A Preliminary Investigation," as well as "The Application of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy in Lateral Epicondylalgia," both have been published in The Journal of Manual and Manipulative Therapy. In August 2016, he was a platform presenter at the 2016 MDT Conference of the Americas in Miami. He also is the Clinical Instructor for a MDT-specific student clinical program and will be presenting 4 poster presentations at the MDT International Conference in September 2017.
