Case #55 - Kristi Maguire

$15.00

In case #55 Ms. Kristi Maguire of Greenville, South Carolina USA presents a 32 year old male with the primary complaint of dizziness and headache.  You'll gain from hearing Kristi develop an opinion of the expected mechanical diagnosis from the patient's history.  She illustrates staying in the sagittal plane until a specific response that led her to know she'd have to go elsewhere.  She incorporates the use of other assessment systems, specific to the vestibular system, when some of the symptoms showed to be non-mechanical.  For those of us who struggle when there are multiple symptoms and some are rapidly changing and others not or when some are reducing and others increasing you'll find plenty of insights from Kristi's expertise. This is a great case with one learning opportunity after another and an outstanding outcome in the end. (45 min 8 sec)

Case #55 with Kristi Maguire is a 32 year old male complaining of the feeling that he's moving and dizziness as well as headache.  Kristi completes a thorough history attempting to uncover whether the symptoms are cervicogenic or not.  She talks through what the patient said to lead her one way or the other.  She explains how she goes about determining mechanical or not in the physical exam and the patient's response gives us the opportunity to see how sagittal plane movement reveals a relevant lateral component.  We see one symptom fully abolish while another increases.  Vestibulo-occular reflex testing, peripheral vestibular and benign paroxysmal positional vertigo testing are also discussed in brief.  We also observe how Kristi determines she needs the help of another discipline to not prolong the persistence of the patient's symptoms.
