In episode 167 I continue my conversation with Dr. Hanne Albert, an international expert on Modic changes and back pain.  She shares specifics on this condition, how it is acquired, the typical clinical presentation and the effective treatment for it. This week on MCF!

Dr. Hanne Albert originally trained as a physiotherapist, went on to receive a Master of Public Health and a Ph.D. in health sciences.

She has worked as a full time researcher from 2000 to 2016, first as an associate professor at The Back Research Center at The Institute of Regional Health Services Research, University of Southern Denmark and with Bartholomew’s Hospital in London.

Dr. Albert has published more than 45 peer-reviewed research publications including work on pregnancy and pelvic and back pain, outcome measurement tools and association with and prediction of outcomes, lumbar disc herniations and centralization, and more recently Modic changes.  She has, over the last 13 years, researched Modic changes receiving several awards for that work and gained international recognition.  Her work with diagnosis and antibiotic treatment for Modic changes are so momentous that it has been cited as the basis for a potential, future Nobel Prize.
