Case #84 - Annie O'Connor, Melissa Watson
In case #84, we’re joined again by Ms. Melissa Watson and Ms. Annie O'Connor. Melissa, a neuro therapist working in a day rehab program and Annie, an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist - both working at the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, formerly known as the Rehab Institute of Chicago in Illinois. Melissa presents a case of a neurological patient with an incomplete C5 spinal cord injury (SCI) patient whose chief complaint is right leg "tightness". Plenty of great insights in clinical reasoning and management in a patient population not commonly assumed to be effectively treated by MDT. ( 41min, 59sec)
Continuing with their discussion in using two classification systems, MDT and Pain Mechanism Classification System(PMCS). Insights regarding the readiness continuum, relevant and effective use of the REPEX machine and a non-musculoskeletal patient population found to have a high prevalence of directional preference.
