Case #67 - Josh Kidd
Case #67 - Josh Kidd
In case #67 I'm joined by Dr. Josh Kidd of Portland, Oregon USA. He's a diplomat in MDT, a fellow of the AAOMPT, a board certified OCS and a probationary faculty with the McKenzie Institute USA. He presents a 38 year old high level, competitive weightlifter. We listen as he describes the patients history, her response to his initial physical exam and the response to repeated end-range movement testing. We get into his mind and his clinical reasoning which leads him to a confirmed classification and, ultimately, a successful outcome. If you're interested in observing how MDT applies with the athlete this is a great case and content to consume. (1hr, 7 min, 28 sec)
Among the topics we dive deeper into include:
posture correction - some hints into how to effectively do it, what Josh looks for and when
testing the lower extremities for strength and why and how Josh does more than just simple manual break tests
some review of the EXPOSS study data and how that influences Josh’s attitude of testing the spine even when the pain is isolated to a peripheral joint
discussion on tendon loading and a logical progression of forces and how to be confident you’re loading just right
