Case # 27 - Greg Silva

$15.00

In this case Mr. Silva and I discuss a 24 year old male with low back, leg and foot pain and numbness.  This patient describes a mixed pattern in the interview, not clearly describing a directional preference which creates the need for a careful assessment and thorough testing in the repeated movement section.

It's a great case because of Greg's vast experience from assessing and treating patients over multiple decades and years of teaching student therapists. (59min32sec)

Greg offers some interesting thoughts and common misconceptions on differentiating between “producing" versus "worsening" symptoms.  He elaborates on what clinicians fail to learn by not flexing their patients even when leg symptoms are produced or increased.

Greg hears specific comments from the patient and from the physical exam that persuades him that lateral forces may need to be explored and offers some ideas on how to properly go about it.  He also makes suggestions of how best to educate the patient to encourage their learning.
