Session 032001 with Mark Cheel part 1

Session 032001 with Mark Cheel part 1
In Session 0320-01 and 02 we’re joined by Mr. Mark Cheel of Geelong, Victoria Australia. He works in an emergency department providing a mechanical examination and treatment. He shares how and to which patients they administer their examination, the more common diagnoses he’ll see, how the assessment differs in this setting versus the typical outpatient setting, how education looks in these acute scenarios and plenty more. He shares a category 4, 35 year old female with acute onset of back pain the same morning to illustrate some of these principles. (1hr 8min)
Among other keys to effective care for the acute patient Mr. Cheel touches on:
taking the history in specific postures and avoiding it done in others
considerations regarding medication and the most important related education he gives to them
the primary conditions he wants to rule out right away
his most common treatment he educates his patients with in the acute phase
what the evidence suggests acute patients need and how he advises them
how he addresses the patients greatest need and desire when they acquire acute pain
