Session 032203 with Mark Cheel
Session 032203 with Mark Cheel
In Session 032201-3 we’re joined by Mark Cheel from Geelong, Australia. Mark works in an emergency department triaging patients to the appropriate care pathway as well as teaching MDT for the Mckenzie Insitute Australia. Mark shares a series of three radiculopathy cases this month. The third case, highlighted here, is a 41 yr old female with initial back pain which progressed to include leg pain. Her pain rapidly and largely improved with an injection. Like the previous two cases from Mark, he shares a power point presentation and elaborates on her other previous and current medical treatment. He clarifies what he gathered in the history and physical exam and what, in his mind was most important to note. He shares how MURS patients' patterns tend to be a bit different than the typical derangement patients related to force progression and the likelihood they need to go lateral. He walks us through some moments in the episode of care where symptom worsened including a period of depressive mood and how he handled this added complication. Like previous cases, Mark shares some relevant studies related to key learning points this case offers. This case isn't your typical part A course patient with some challenges, however, not uncommon for the MURS patient.
